About Program

The BAMS program is of 5.5 years duration, divided as follows:

  • 4.5 Years Academic Study (Professional Education)
  • 1 Year Compulsory Rotatory Internship

The course is designed to:

  • Develop skilled Ayurvedic physicians
  • Provide scientific understanding of Ayurveda principles
  • Train students in diagnosis and treatment using Ayurvedic methods
  • Promote preventive healthcare and natural healing
  • Integrate traditional medicine with modern medical knowledge

Eligibility Criteria

To pursue BAMS, a candidate must:

  • Complete 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
  • Qualify in NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test)

The academic program is divided into 3 professional phases with theoretical and practical training:

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary Education) with Science
  • subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
  • Minimum Percentage: A minimum of 50% aggregate in PCB is required for general candidates, while reserved categories generally require 40% to 45%.
  • Entrance Exam: Qualified NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is mandatory.
  • Age Limit: Minimum 17 years old.
  • Age Relaxation: Upper age limits can vary, but generally, there is no maximum age for BAMS specifically, although some universities may have specific requirements (commonly 17–25 or 17–33 years)

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) internship is a mandatory one-year rotatory clinical training conducted after final-year exams in various Ayurvedic hospital departments. It provides practical experience in patient care, diagnosis, therapies, and hospital management under professional supervision.

The student shall be eligible to join the Compulsory Internship programme after passing all the subjects from First to Third (Final) Professional Examination, including nine electives, and after obtaining the Provisional Degree Certificate from the respective university and the Provisional Registration Certificate from the respective State Board or Council for Compulsory Rotatory Internship.

Normally, the one-year internship shall be conducted as follows:

Option I: The internship shall be divided into six months of clinical training in the Ayurveda hospital attached to the college and six months in a Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre, Rural Hospital, District Hospital, Civil Hospital, Government Hospital of Modern Medicine or Ayurveda Medicine, or NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) accredited private Ayurveda hospital. Only OPD-based clinics having NABH accreditation shall not be eligible for internship.

Option II: All twelve months of internship may be completed in the Ayurveda hospital attached to the college.
